I’m on a mission to guide the world from yang to yin, to tune folks out of the sympathetic nervous system and enhance the calm. I am not here to judge or put you on a strict regime that causes more stress than good. Because sometimes, a night out dancing is the answer. My experience as a human - and a fun one, if I say so myself - is what makes The Health Shed different.

Proof is in the pud

    I first started seeing Sian just under two years ago. Throughout my life I have experienced several health challenges. I was diagnosed with OCD when I was eight years old, endometriosis at 15 and depression at 17. Each of these conditions has impacted my life in different ways.

    At the beginning of 2024, I was diagnosed with severe depression and ended up being admitted to a psychiatric ward. During that time I was doing several different types of therapy, including EMDR which helped a lot and still does today, but despite this I still didn’t feel like I was truly getting better overall. At the time I was taking 16 pills a day to manage my OCD and depression just to get through each day. Looking back now, that period of my life feels like a blur.

    Even after coming through the worst of it, I still carried a deep sadness that I couldn’t quite shift. While some aspects of the conventional health system helped me, I began thinking about my long-term future. As a 22-year-old woman, I didn’t want to rely on taking 16 pills a day for the rest of my life.

    A close friend recommended that I see Sian. At first I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect I just knew that I wanted to feel better and find a way forward.

    During my first session with Sian, I shared my full health history in much more detail and together we created a plan. I was recommended a range of supplements and encouraged to drastically change my diet. For me this was a huge challenge  I love sugar and eating whatever I feel like so this was not easy.

    However, after about three months I started noticing a significant difference in my mood and daily life. I felt like I was slowly getting my spark back. The first few months were definitely the hardest, especially with the cravings but having Sian there to support and motivate me made a huge difference.

    About six months later, still following the diet and feeling mentally stronger than I had in years, I decided I wanted to slowly start coming off my medication. This was a massive step for me, as I had been taking some of those medications for nearly eight years. Throughout this time I was seeing Sian regularly either monthly or fortnightly and I always felt supported. I could message her whenever I needed guidance, and she continually provided encouragement, advice and practical strategies to keep me moving forward.

    Fast forward to now, I am just under one year medication-free. I mostly follow a paleo-style diet (with the occasional chocolate brownie when needed!). Over the last two years my life has changed in ways I never thought possible.

    I took on each challenge that Sian set for me and those small but consistent changes slowly guided me back to a happier and healthier place. The personalised plans she created, combined with her constant support, insights and constant encouragement to stay open to trying new things, are what helped me get here.

    I am incredibly grateful to her for where I am today. I feel happy, content and excited about the future. The habits and lessons I’ve learned from Sian are things I continue to carry with me every day.
